The development process has been long, challenging and quite stressful at times, but when we're testing the game on the big TV with a PS4 controller, it feels totally worth it.
HOPIKO GAME ARCHIVE
The most complete archive of Hopiko content. It's our first game to come out on these platforms and we're already planning our next. Hopiko is a brutally hard platformer from Laser Dog, with a soundtrack composed on a Game Boy. Some challenges involve swiping to ping off in a specific direction, others involve tapping to shoot straight up. You do this by pinging through teeny tiny platforming levels. Essentially a virus has overtaken a games console, and you need to use the Hopiko to go in there and bash its face in. We're really excited to release HoPiKo on XB1/PS4/Desktop. The idea behind the game is a brilliant one. You need to know what's happening before you're eyes have even seen it. When you land on a platform, there's a real "thud". They range from complete 8bit noise effects to synthesis. Jump from platform to platform avoiding death, exploiting shortcuts. It’s time to hook up your power gloves and save your HoPiKo brothers SPEED RUNNERHoPiKo is an intense speed run platformer where you get to save gaming. The HoPiKo, who ran the games, have been enslaved. This cements the character in the world as they are directly interacting with the environment.Ī massive part of what makes HoPiKo feel the way it does is the sound effects. A virus, known as the Nanobyte has infected hardware around the globe rendering all systems useless - gaming is dead.
Spawning, jumping, landing, dying, winning and so on. There are a lot of particle effects in HoPiKo. Few will enjoy this, but those that do, will bloody love it this punishing, maddening, insane, brutal, and brilliant pain in the behinds. We've also added a subtle bounce to certain platforms, this adds to the feeling of motion, even when the player has reached the end of a jump. HoPiKo is the type of game that can quite easily cost the lives of a few controllers, and on Switch that could get a little pricey for those who like to play in handheld mode.
